Our Founder
Selange Giannetto founded Creative Purpose. with one thing in mind. A strong commitment to addressing the challenges faced by children and dedicated support for educators in under-served communities.
How It All Began
Selange’s journey began as she volunteered at food pantries, igniting her passion for helping others. She served as a nutritional education intern with the Head Start program at Dominican University. This was in her hometown of Chicago. During this time, she diligently worked towards earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. This experience, she witnessed the resilience of children facing significant challenges, often lacking basic resources. From simple items like pencils to essential tools like laptops, these resources are vital for their success in school. Despite limited support, teachers strive tirelessly to bridge these gaps, inspiring hope and change in their students’ lives.
Moving from Chicago to Tempe, Arizona was primarily motivated by health concerns. After struggling to find steady employment, she began volunteering at food pantries and joined a sorority. Through this involvement, she was once again tasked with raising funds to buy essential items for underprivileged children. She connected with teachers to obtain their continuous lists of classroom necessities. These items were often beyond their classroom budgets. Many students’ families cannot afford them either.
We know that kids have a better chance to succeed when they have what they need. And when teachers are supported, they can focus on what they do best–INSPIRING and EDUCATING the next generation.
Creative Purpose Tempe began as a one member organization. Selange used her own savings to buy the supplies needed to raise funds. From t-shirts and tote bags, to key chains and books for kids. It’s more than an organization, its a deeply rooted altruistic passion. A passion to help kids, who with today’s climate are getting left behind, due to no fault of their own. We are slowly growing. Interest in what we are trying to do has grown. What started as one, has now grown to 4. Small but mighty is how Selange refers to herself and the friends who have joined her.
