Did you know that you don’t have to travel far to see amazing mosaics? Many cities, including those in Arizona, are filled with hidden (and not-so-hidden) mosaic treasures!
It’s time to have some fun! There are nine mosaic pieces scattered across the Phoenix Valley. Some are small, while others are larger than life—an explosion of color and creativity. Creative Purpose Tempe encourages you to discover these works of art, which might just be in your own backyard!
One notable installation is at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. This piece beautifully represents its surroundings. Howardena Pindell, a groundbreaking artist, created the vibrant mosaic mural titled “Memory: Arizona.” She is known for her innovative approach to painting and mixed media. It was commissioned for Terminal 4 in 1991.
